Elite Direto XR Roller Trainer with ZWIFT Cog + Click

In this set, Elite combines an advanced version of its Elite Direto XR Direct Drive roller trainer with the ZWIFT Cog + Click. This system provides you with 24 virtual gears in the ZWIFT training software and is compatible with 8 to 12-speed gears – you no longer need an additional cassette!

This is particularly practical if you have several bikes with different groupsets that you would like to use for indoor training with ZWIFT and without changing the cassette. Instead, the Direto XR is fitted with the ZWIFT Cog, which has exactly one sprocket. With the corresponding wireless ZWIFT Click control unit, you can then shift up and down 24 virtual gears in ZWIFT. The pedalling resistance of the trainer changes with every click, simulating a gear change – even under full load. A voucher for a two-month ZWIFT subscription is included, so that you can get started straight away.

If you want to use a different training software, you can simply install a compatible 9-12-speed cassette on the Direto XR and then change gears in a completely analogue and physical way using the shift levers of your derailleur.

In addition, the range of functions of the Direto XR has been significantly enhanced compared to its predecessor. The smart trainer can also be paired with SHIMANO's electronic Di2 road bike groupsets. You can control the resistance in stand-alone mode, for example, by pressing the buttons on the control levers. Speaking of stand-alone mode – the smart trainer now has two of them: You can use it with a power supply and pre-set incline simulation, but without a connection to a training software such as Zwift. Or you can use the roller trainer completely without a power supply and with pre-defined pedalling resistance. This gives you the flexibility to do your training or warm-up programme before a race at different locations and regardless of the external conditions.

Of course, you also get all the other familiar benefits of the Direto XR roller trainer: Its top features include the OTS power meter with an accuracy margin of 1.5 per cent, the quiet direct drive, the incline simulation of up to 24 per cent and a pedalling resistance of up to 2300 watts. This allows you to complete any training session, no matter how tough, and to precisely control your training and document your progress. Ambitious amateur cyclists will also be pleased with the improved ERG mode compared to its predecessor, which now enables even more precise training in the pre-defined watt range. The Easy Start function makes it easier to start pedalling in this mode if you had to pause briefly at high wattage. As soon as the flywheel stops, the trainer lowers the resistance and then raises it again to the pre-defined value after a few turns of the crank. In addition you can enjoy the unlimited interactive training possibilities that the multi radio protocol with ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth Smart offers in combination with almost all standard apps available.

The Direto XR therefore offers you everything you can expect from a modern indoor trainer. In combination with the ZWIFT Cog + Click system, you get a flexible and easy-to-use setup that gives you all the options for your indoor training.

VIRTUAL SHIFTING
24 virtual gears can be shifted up and down with the ZWIFT Cog + Click Upgrade Kit and the Direto XR roller trainer in ZWIFT. It doesn't matter whether your bike has an 8-, 9-, 10-, 11- or 12-speed cassette. The ZWIFT Cog is attached to the freewheel body of your roller trainer instead of a cassette and has exactly one sprocket over which the bicycle chain of your bike runs. Gears are changed virtually and wirelessly with the Zwift Click control unit by pressing the plus or minus button. You can attach these to any point on the handlebars or aerobars using the rubber rings provided.
The virtual shifting with the ZWIFT Cog + Click Upgrade Kit is currently only available for the ZWIFT training software. If you want to use a different training software, you can simply install a compatible 9-12-speed cassette on the Direto XR and then change gears in a completely analogue and physical way.

HIGH COMPATIBILITY
If you want to use the Direto XR without the ZWIFT Cog + Click Upgrade Kit, this is also possible: The roller trainer guarantees maximum compatibility with road bikes as well as with mountain bikes. Thanks to the improved housing geometry, it is possible to use rear derailleurs with long cage, too. A SHIMANO HG freehub body is fitted ex works. With optional freehub bodies, you can also mount Campagnolo cassettes, SRAM XD/XDR cassettes and SHIMANO Micro Spline cassettes (see compatible accessories at ROSE below).

WITH POWER METER
The accuracy of the Direto XR’s data during training is guaranteed by the OTS (Optical Torque Sensor). This sensor is a built-in power meter that ensures that your wattage is measured with a maximum deviation of < +/- 1,5%.

INTERACTIVE INCLINE SIMULATION
The Direto XR is an interactive roller trainer and therefore varies the resistance automatically. It is able to simulate inclines of up to 24% and develops a power of 2300 watts at a speed of 40 km/h. With this Italian smart trainer, you will easily work up a sweat.

INTERACTIVITY IN ALL AREAS
The Direto XR belongs to the new generation of interactive roller trainers ANT+ FE-C & Bluetooth, which interact with apps, software, computers and peripheral devices (smartphone and tablet) of all kinds with IOS, Android, OSX and Windows. With just a few steps, you can set training routes or programmes and off you go. Your smart trainer varies the resistance automatically and ensures thus optimal training. The Direto XR can be controlled with the Elite software My E-Training or other platforms for indoor cycling, including: Zwift, TrainerRoad, The Sufferfest, Bikevo, Kinomap and a lot more.

FASTER PERFORMANCE RECORDING
In the Direto XR, the frequency for measuring power, speed and cadence data is recorded at 10 Hz, i. e. read out 10 times per second. And not only when using wired TCP-IP devices such as the Elite Gateway, but also via the Bluetooth protocol. This means that changes in your performance are transmitted to compatible apps particularly quickly, which can give you a decisive advantage, especially in racing situations.

BRIDGE FUNCTION AND VIRTUAL HEART RATE MONITOR
The bridge function also makes it possible to send the signal from separate heart rate or cadence monitors to the trainer, from where it is fed into the outgoing Bluetooth FTMS signal. This function is particularly useful for certain platforms (such as Apple TV) that only support two simultaneous Bluetooth Smart connections.
The Direto XR with Cog and Click can also create a virtual heart rate monitor if you use programmes that are not compatible with the protocol of your heart rate strap (e.g. if you have an ANT+ heart rate strap but use a programme or device that only supports Bluetooth). The indoor trainer converts the data transmitted by your ANT+ heart rate monitor into Bluetooth and sends it to the app or the device you are using.

ERG EASY START & POWER SMOOTHING
The Easy Start function in ERG training mode makes it easier to start pedalling if you had to pause briefly at high wattage. As soon as the flywheel stops, the trainer lowers the resistance and then raises it again after a few turns of the crank. An additional power smoothing function, which can be set in the My E-Training app, allows you to "smooth" the output watt values in four stages so that they are displayed more evenly.

DETAILED CADENCE ANALYSIS
With its detailed cadence analysis, the Direto XR is able to analyse difference in the watt power achieved with the right and left leg, detect dysbalances and counteract them effectively. Moreover, the trainer delivers accurate data on cadence, pedalling efficiency as well as on power and torque efficiency. The cadence analysis feature is available for a fee in the Elite software My E-Training.

COMPATIBLE WITH SHIMANO Di2
If you have a bike with a SHIMANO Dura-Ace Di2 R9200 or Ultegra Di2 R8100 12-speed groupset, you can pair it with the roller trainer using the My E-Training app. If you are using a SHIMANO Dura-Ace Di2 R9100 or Ultegra Di2 R8000 11-speed groupset, you will need a separately available unit for wireless signal transmission (SHIMANO EW-WU101 or EW-WU111) for pairing. By pressing the buttons on the shift levers, you can then control the pedalling resistance of the roller trainer in stand-alone mode (with power supply) or pause it for 60 seconds if you are training with an indoor cycling app.

STAND-ALONE-MODE
Another exclusive feature of the Direto XR with Cog and Click compared to its predecessors is the ability to use the indoor trainer through two stand-alone operating modes, so you can train anywhere, even without being connected to any software or power supply. If the indoor trainer is powered but not connected to training software such as ZWIFT, you can set an incline of up to +24% in advance via the My E-Training app. The indoor trainer retains this value even when it is disconnected from the app. If there is neither an app connection nor power available, you can use the My E-Training app to adjust the resistance of the braking mechanism before training by setting a resistance value from 1 to 16 levels.
